Conway Elementary School & City of Conway Awarded Prestigious Moon Tree from NASA

Conway Elementary School in partnership with the City of Conway have been awarded a prestigious Moon Tree from NASA.
 
This Moon Tree will serve as the first Moon Tree of record in the state of South Carolina. The tree was aboard the Artemis 1 space craft which left the Earth on November 16, 2022, orbited the moon for 25 and ½ days, and traveled 270,000 miles from Earth before splashing down on December 11, 2022.
 
In a joint effort between NASA and the U.S. Forest Service, the seeds are being distributed to qualifying applicants throughout the United States. Luckily for us, Conway Elementary School and the City of Conway joined forces and were selected as a recipient of a Moon Tree.
  
This will surely be a historic event for our community as well as our state. We are excited for the opportunity to become such a historic landmark but also for the educational benefits this will bring for all our students.
