United Way of Horry County’s Day of Caring returns to Oak Tree Farm on Friday October 11, 2024
Conway, SC, October 2 – United Way of Horry County’s annual Day of Caring is almost here! Volunteers will arrive Friday morning for a kick off celebration at Horry Georgetown Technical College and then split between the two locations. Many are heading to Oak Tree Farm to assist with a number of landscaping projects.
Oak Tree Farm is an affordable housing community in Conway, SC developed by SOS Care specifically for adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. The community welcomed its first residents in March of 2021, but in April of 2024, another 72 residents moved in and now a total of 77 residents live there.
Day of Caring will tackle a number landscaping projects at Oak Tree Farm thanks to the generous Day of Caring sponsors, and all of these businesses who donated time and materials:
Santee Cooper - Cleared the land
SiteOne in Conway - Mulch & staples for the weedblock
Mulch Bucket in Myrtle beach - 10 yards of topsoil
GS Water and Sewer Authority - 4000 Sq feet of Sod
Reynolds Landscaping – Project management and coordination
Jones Landscaping -Bobcat/front loader for soil grading
Bean Dreaming - Will be on hand serving fresh coffee, lattes and cappuccino
