Habitat for Humanity of Horry County Announces Home Dedication Supported by Publix Super Market Charities Grant 

Conway, SC — Habitat for Humanity of Horry County is announces the upcoming home dedication for the Spivey Family. This event celebrates the completion of a new home made possible, in part, by a generous grant from Publix Super Market Charities. The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM at 5505 Longs Ave Ext, in the Owens Creek Neighborhood in Conway, SC. Media, partners, volunteers, and supporters are cordially invited to attend. 

Habitat for Humanity of Horry County is proud to have been awarded a $100,000 grant from Publix Super Market Charities. This vital funding directly supports the construction of two new single-family homes in Conway, including Ms. Spivey's, within Owens Creek, Habitat’s newest subdivision.  

“Publix Super Market Charities continues to be an incredible partner in strengthening communities,” said Rachel Kennon, Assistant Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County.  

Ms. Spivey, a hardworking mother of three and local professional holding multiple roles in maintenance engineering, hardscape design, and management, has overcome significant challenges to achieve this milestone. For Laneea, becoming a homeowner is a lifelong dream that provides her children and grandchildren a stable sanctuary for creating lasting memories, starting with a family sleepover to celebrate their new beginning. 

Laneea Spivey has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, completing financial education and contributing extensive "sweat equity" hours—often on her only days off—to realize her dream of homeownership. Her new home in Owens Creek will provide long-term stability and a foundation for a brighter future for her family. 

Habitat homeowners partner with the organization by completing financial education, contributing sweat equity, and purchasing their homes with affordable mortgages. The support of partners like Publix Super Market Charities makes these opportunities possible, empowering individuals and neighborhoods through shelter, transforming through education, and inspiring through change.
