Transforming the Grand Strand: Hurricane Hazel
The 2025 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Transforming the Grand Strand: Hurricane Hazel. Hurricane Hazel slammed into the Grand Strand on October 15, 1954 as a category four hurricane on a full moon high tide and forever changed our area. This 30 minute film, locally produced by Stages Video, reconstructs the impact of Hurricane Hazel on Myrtle Beach and Horry County through interviews with survivors, archival photographs and film footage. The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 15th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway. The Horry County Museum Documentary Film Matinees will continue throughout 2025. For a list of films, visit our website at www.horrycountymuseum.org.
