DESCRIPTION:The Horry County Museum presents a free program on July 22nd at 1 PM on local plants and wildlife through the lens of Steve Berkowitz. Join us as retired CCU professor Steve Berkowitz shares images and videos of local wildlife including birds\, mammals\, reptiles\, insects\, and flowers that he has collected from natural areas throughout Horry and adjacent Counties.\n\n\n\nBerkowitz completed his graduate training and thesis work was at Texas A&M University\, in biological oceanography\, specializing in zooplankton and Antarctic krill. He was hired as the Assistant Director of the Center of Marine and Wetland Studies at CCU in 1991. After some years\, he transitioned to a full-time position as Lab Coordinator and Senior Instructor from which he retired in 2011. He has participated in dozens of research expeditions in Antarctica\, the Gulf of Mexico\, and the Western Atlantic Ocean. He also spent five years as an environmental consultant\, based out of Virginia and Florida.
